Students who entered the Women’s State High School Art and Design Competition flocked to  Brenau’s Gainesville campus Monday, Feb 18 to see the exhibition, participate in various workshops and attend the awards ceremony where faculty doled out more than $40,000 in Brenau scholarships and $1000 in cash prizes.

The women-only event featured selected works in multiple mediums from students across the state, including DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson and Rabun counties.

Entrants submissions to the competition were on display in the Castelli Gallery of the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts from Saturday, Feb. 16 until Monday, Feb. 18.

“We encourage the community to come see how today’s young women are expressing themselves in their artwork,” said Lynn Jones, chair of the Interior Design Department at Brenau.
