On Monday, March 18 the Brenau University Vocal Chamber Ensemble filled the lobby of John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts with the sounds of Bach, Brahms, Bernstein from the winding staircases to a close and intimate crowd. The vocal group’s performance covered material spanning centuries of musical development. Conductor and Brenau University professor Bobby Ivey told audience members the selections highlighted different musical periods from the Baroque to the contemporary.
The group consists of 18 students and they preformed three songs by each composer. Junior piano performance major Yuxi Liu and Brenau’s Ben Leaptrott accompanied the vocalists on piano and at times both played the instrument when a piece required four hands. Haley Phillips also accompanied on percussion during Bernstein’s Gloria TibiI.
