Auditioning for Theatre

Scholarships are awarded to students based on talent, commitment and academic performance.  GTA faculty evaluate prospective students each semester at an audition/portfolio event, as well as at the Georgia Theatre Conference (October 18-20, 2018), the Georgia Thespian Conference (February 7-9, 2019) and the Southeastern Theatre Conference (February 27-March 3, 2019).  Students auditioning for scholarships should be in the process of applying to Brenau University and must be declared theatre majors.

Auditions for Performance Majors

Screening auditions take place at the three conferences (listed above) and via video auditions. Call backs for scholarships and BFA placement will be held on November 17, 2018, and in February 2019. These are invitation-only events for performers based on an evaluation through one of our screening auditions.

For the BFA Acting program: Perform 2 contrasting monologues, 60 seconds each.  Singing is optional; if so, perform a song from a musical, about 30 seconds long.  Bring your sheet music.

For the BFA Musical Theatre program: Prepare 16-32 Bars of a song (bring sheet music) and one 60 second monologue. Candidates for this degree should also come dressed to learn a dance combination.

For the BA Theatre program: Perform 2 contrasting monologues, 60 seconds each, with optional song (see above).

Video Audition information will be updated soon.
