Academic Program

The Early College program has two academic facets: completing your high school requirements and completing the Associate of Arts degree requirements. Once admitted to the program, you will work with the Director to make sure that you track appropriately in each.

Because we are a dual enrollment program, we award a full Carnegie unit for each semester class (3 credit hours or more) taken at the University.

Below are the plans of study for each academic facet:

High School Diploma (23 Carnegie Units required)

4 units of English

4 units of Math

4 units of Science

3 Units of Social Studies

2 Units of Foreign Language

6 Units of Electives (including Physical Education, Health, and Fine/Creative Arts)

Associate of Arts Degree (minimum of 60 credit hours)

The A.A. Curriculum is divided into 1) Liberal Education Requirements and 2) Elective/Concentration Courses. For a list of courses that satisfy the portal requirements noted below (World Understanding, Scientific & Analytic Curiosity, Artistic & Creative Imagination, and Communication & Language Fluency), please see the Brenau University catalog or the Brenau University web site (www.brenau.edu/reg). Students should keep in mind what major they may wish to pursue after their A.A. degree is complete and apply those major courses, when possible, in their A.A. program.
