Graduates of the program will be able to apply management tools and techniques relative to achieving organizational goals and objectives; identify strengths and weaknesses in individual leadership skills; apply decision-making models and systematic problem-solving methods to enhance and improve individual and organizational performance; apply critical thinking skills to real-world strategies in the healthcare industry; and develop networking skills to enhance the potential for individual growth. When Brenau University prepared to offer its first earned doctorates on May 3, there were two doctors preparing to receive different degrees: Dr. Christopher Culp, on the left, an internist who had received an M.D. from Vanderbilt University and Dr. Kimberly Davis, on the right, an ophthalmologist whose M.D. is from the University of Arkansas. Both U.S. Navy officers received Master of Business Administration degrees in health care from Brenau. Capt. Culp is inspector general for the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in Washington D.C., scheduled to assume responsibilities in September as Pacific Fleet surgeon in Hawaii. Cmdr. Davis is director of surgical services at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The Healthcare Management MBA is well-suited for clinical professionals, such as RNs, Medical Technologists, and other medical specialists, to expand their potential for promotion and leadership responsibility.
