From Newton to Pooh!

Dr. Dobkins and I went out for lunch today to discuss my papers. She met me after class and was in such a hurry to get to the “surprise” she planned for before lunch. We rushed up to the Trinity College gates, nearly ran through the entrance garden, and finally arrived at the Wren Library!

Inside the Trinity College Complex. This is where Isaac Newton and Lord Byron attended school and where the Wren Library is housed!

The Wren Library houses some of England’s most prized manuscripts. I was able to see the first collection of Shakespeare’s plays, Isaac Newton’s hand-written notes and his first textbook, and the original Winnie the Pooh series. It truly gave me chills to read some of the notes from the world’s most notable scholars.

I soon realized why we had to rush – the library is only open for two hours a day. Needless to say, it was well-worth the run!
