A dance audition is required for acceptance into the Dance, Dance Education and Dance Studies degree programs. During the audition prospective students will be reviewed for acceptance, class level placement, and talent based scholarships. A dance audition is not required for acceptance into the Arts Management, Dance Minor, or Musical Theatre programs; however, those students must participate in a placement audition before registering for dance classes. Additionally, students applying for acceptance into for the Dance, Dance Education, Dance Studies, and Arts Management degree programs must interview with the dance faculty. Interviews are usually held following the audition; after the Dance Program receives the completed application form, the applicant will be contacted by a faculty member to schedule the interview.

The completed audition form and a full-body photo (a snapshot is fine) of the applicant in dance practice clothes performing first arabesque should be submitted two weeks prior to the audition you plan to attend. The photo is for the purpose of audition identification only; please do not use a performance picture in costume or make-up. Completed forms and photos should be sent to:

What to wear
Applicants should wear proper dance attire for the audition:
Solid color leotard
Pink tights suitable for both ballet and modern dance (bare feet required)
Pink ballet shoes
Hair in bun or twist
No jewelry
Pointe shoes (only for applicants presently performing en pointe)
Aerobic clothing is not suitable for auditions.
