The practicing early childhood teacher typically instructs in a variety of disciplines each day. Thus, the graduate program offers courses in reading, language arts literature, social studies, science, math, technology, child development and multiculturalism. Self-expression and creativity are encouraged as a part of the learning process. The specialized knowledge reflected in Brenau's graduate courses in early childhood takes into account immediate experiences for the developing child as well as long-term learning.

Program Requirements: 33 semester hours is divided into six components:

bullet9 semester hours of professional development core
bullet6 semester hours of graduate reading courses
bullet9 semester hours of graduate methods courses
bullet3 semester hours in an educational research course and
bullet6 hours of graduate electives.

The capstone activity for the program is either a comprehensive exam or an applied research project.
