Facilities

Mass Communication majors have the unique opportunity to combine various aspects of the field of communications to create a program that adds depth and focus to their particular field of interest.

To accomplish this, the Department maintains a television studio consisting of three color cameras with teleprompters and appropriate lighting instruments. There are permanent sets for student productions, the Brenau News Forum and the City and County of Gainesville productions.

The control room houses digital editing facilities as well as a master control area.  All these facilities are available for student use, either for classes or outside projects

The Department has updated its production facilities, field equipment and editing formats  to digital.  The facilities and field equipment offer DVC-Pro, Mini-DV, and S-VHS formats for class and student work.

Audio facilities are located in the WBCX-FM studios in the Jacobs building (photo above).  There are two digital capable studios for use by students.  They are used for class work or audio programming which is fed to the Cable 95 on-campus channel.

The Department is capable of bringing in teleconferencing, Public Radio International programming as well as any number of satellite-fed programs through the satellite receiving dishes located on the roof of the Jacob's building.

Students have access to all the production equipment and studios on a sign-up basis after appropriate training in the use of the facilities.
