Cable 95 programming is available over the
local cable system which is provided to the on-campus dormitories, sorority
houses and public locations on campus. The channel programming consists of
various student oriented programs such as:
A newscast using video feeds from CNN News
with student anchors as the local talent. The anchors are chosen by
audition at the beginning of each semester. The student news also
incorporates locally produced ENG pieces by
students.
Student-oriented programming from Burly
Bear and Zilo Network, two student-oriented distribution networks. Their
programming changes on a weekly basis and is run in the evening hours.
Recent-run
films on a nightly basis for student viewing. The films are updated each
week with new selections chosen by a panel of students.
Programming
requested by faculty used in conjunction with classes.
When not showing this programming,
the channel carries informational data related to events on campus and in the
surrounding town of Gainesville.
Cable 95 is operated by a student
manager, selected by the Media Board on a yearly basis, and a staff of student
volunteers. They are responsible for programming the content of the
channel, covering events on campus for the student news and Cable 95, and
updating the information roll.
