Some graduation guidelines

A great many people work throughout the year to make your graduation as special as possible. We ask that you adhere to some simple guidelines to make your commencement ceremony more enjoyable for you, your classmates, and guests.

Guests:
As stated above, Brenau will be required to issue tickets this year.  Please read the information above concerning tickets. Ticket holders must be seated a minimum of 30 minutes before the ceremony begins to assure a seat.  Non-ticket holders will be admitted 30 minutes before the ceremony until the arena is filled.

Children:
The registrar's office staff have attended many graduation ceremonies.   We observed that small children are usually unhappy and restless during the ceremony.  It is very boring for our little ones because it is not entertaining for children.  (After all, the TeleTubbies are not there to lighten their spirits!) We suggest that you find a sitter for any children under the age of five. That way, they will have a good day and you and your guests will not have to be worried about your child's behavior (or misbehavior!) If guests have children that create a disturbance, they will be asked to leave the arena. That way, the graduation ceremony continues without interruption.

Clothing:
Brenau's regalia (cap and gown) are black. Ladies should wear a dark dress with dark low-healed shoes under regalia. Gentlemen should wear a dress shirt and dark pants. Brenau requests you wear no large jewelry and no religious or cultural attire over your regalia or on your cap.

Wear only regalia and honors tassels, cords, or stoles that are issued by Brenau.  No visible religions or culture attire can be worn at graduation.

Photography:
The Picture Man of Athens will be photographing each graduate 2 times during the ceremony: once when the graduate shakes hands with the president and again when exiting the stage.  There is no charge for this service, nor is there any obligation to purchase pictures. For those wishing to view the graduation photographs, proofs will be available for review and purchase online at www.thepicturemanathens.com. Click the "GRADUATIONS" icon and look for the Brenau Graduation.

Leaving/Entering the Arena:
Guests are requested to remain in their seats for the duration of the ceremony. It is important that your guests respect all the graduates and wait until all degrees are conferred and the graduates and faculty march out of the arena. If guests must leave during the ceremony and return, they may do so at appropriate intervals during the ceremony. Guests who leave the arena will be admitted after an important segment of the ceremony is finished.
