Our Goal:
Compensated Self-Sufficiency

" I think of learning disabilities like driving down a road and hitting      a pothole. The Learning Center helps you detour around the pothole."          Elizabeth Nachman Smith, WC '91

The Learning Center is primarily a program for students in the Women's College of Brenau University who have diagnosed learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or any other disability.  The program is designed for students with average to superior academic ability, high motivation, and a desire for more personalized education.

Brenau is a great college for students with learning disabilities.  Residential and commuting  students have all the advantages of a small liberal arts college...smaller classes with faculty focused on students' success.

The Learning Center provides students with structure and support needed to be successful.  Students in the program attend regular college classes, benefit from a structure learning environment, enjoy the freedom associated with college living, and become involved in campus activities.  Tutoring is fee-based, currently $900.00 per semester per course. Upon request, one-hour education support by a specialist is provided free of charge.

The Learning Center goes Wi-Fi!!!!

Did you know?
T
he Learning Center offers fee-based academic coaching to any Brenau student seeking to raise her GPA.  Academic coaching might address one subject or a senior thesis.  Some Brenau students may choose to come to the Learning Center for only one subject their entire academic career.  This choice may well serve as the catalyst to remain in their major and become a superior graduate.

Evelyn Asher, Office Manager and Academic Coach participated in the Sophomore Retreat held at The Burd Center for Performing Arts in April 2006.

Psychological testing is now available through the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services
770-297-5959.

Learning Center English tutors meet with English faculty early in the fall semester to review academic goals and discuss different learning styles.
