2013 Winter Convocation, Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Students and faculty cheer as the Brenau Gospel Choir finishes its performance during the 2013 Winter Convocation in Pearce Auditorium.
The Brenau Gospel Choir and the Tau Sigma Dance Fraternity energized the crowd in Pearce auditorium before keynote speaker Lorna Maloney, an attorney from Baltimore, Md., arrived at the podium. Maloney spoke from personal experience and encouraged students to “dream with a vision and live with a purpose,” the theme of this year’s convocation.
“What are you going to do to make a difference in the life of someone else,” Maloney asked, noting the importance of helping others. “What you do needs to be not only a vision, but a purpose.”
She asked the students to keep the following in mind as they go through life: “What is your dream? Do you have a vision? Can you see your dream and your vision coming to pass? How is the fulfillment of your dream and vision going to impact the life of someone else?”
