This year’s freshman sorority members have now gone through an annual right-of-passage — Bid Day.
Around 50 ladies stood outside of the Owens Student Center anxiously waiting to open envelopes containing their welcome into a sorority. Many tears, hugs and screams of excitement followed the okay to tear open the envelopes from the Rho Gamma’s, current sorority members who shed their greek affiliation to help the newcomers find a sorority that works for them in an unbiased way.
After the newly welcomed Greek ladies found out which sorority the belong to, the new members met in Owens to get T-Shirts, other fun accessories and instructions for the “run out” which took place shortly after at Brenau’s Amphitheater, packed with onlookers and decked out with large, wooden displays of some sororities letters.
During the run out, each sorority’s new members ran down the grassy amphitheater to more tears, hugs, screams of excitement and the welcoming arms of their new sisters. At the end of the program the Rho Gamma’s actual sororities were revealed and each lady rejoined her sisters to cries of “now you never have to leave us again,” and “thank God you’re back.”
