The Best Theatre Program in the Southeast
Education Through Collaboration: The Gainesville Theatre Alliance

Brenau University, with the combined support of the University of North Georgia, Theatre Wings, and the Professional Company, has the top-ranked theatre program in the state of Georgia. This dynamic collaboration is the Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA).

This theatre program provides artists and audiences quality theatrical experiences that educate, inspire, enrich and unite. GTA is a collaborative ensemble of students, community members and professionals that recognizes learning and growth as its primary goal. The development of skills, intellect, commitment and a generous spirit are nurtured with respect and compassion. The reward is the opportunity to work among a group of people dedicated to celebrating life – to learn and grow while practicing the art and craft of theatre.

Classes are taught by both our Resident Faculty and by our exciting roster of Professional Guest Artists. At GTA, we believe that the strongest theatre artist is one who has a rich, liberal arts education and a working knowledge of all aspects of theatre production and theory.

Brenau University and the University of North Georgia have both won a national award for academic excellence and cost management from The American Council on Education in 2000, and in 1990, GTA was nationally recognized as “a model theatre program” and invited to perform The Scarlet Pimpernel at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. GTA is consistently ranked one of the top theatres in the state by the Georgia Council for the Arts. The theater program has garnered both local and national awards and is considered one of the top theater companies in the state of Georgia.

This extraordinary alliance pools faculty talent and three state-of-the-art performance spaces, focuses on individualized training, while emphasizing strong ensemble and support. GTA combines challenging course work (ACE Award for Academic Excellence) with a quality production program (ACTF National Finalist).
