STATUS REQUIREMENTS

Enrollment Status

A graduate student enrolled for at least five (5) semester hours but fewer than nine (9) semester hours is considered a half-time student, while a graduate student enrolled in nine (9) semester hours is considered full-time. A student enrolled in a teacher certification program is considered an undergraduate student for financial aid eligibility purposes.

In order to be eligible for financial aid, a graduate student must comply with the standards of satisfactory progress mandated by the U.S. Department of Education. Any student receiving financial aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the Academic Progress section of the Brenau University Graduate Catalog. Failure to meet the academic requirements of the particular degree program will result in a student being placed on financial aid probation for one semester and failure to correct any deficiency within the probationary semester will result in financial aid suspension. A student may appeal financial aid suspension by indicating in writing to the Director of Financial Aid the reasons for the academic deficiency. The Financial Aid Committee will review the appeal and notify the student of their decision in writing.
