Come audition for the Music Department during Winter Weekend! This is a perfect time to audition, as you don’t need to schedule an appointment, and will have the opportunity to meet faculty and students across the university and see what life is like on campus!
All students must audition in order to be admitted to the music major, and they must also be admitted to Brenau University to be admitted to the major. Talent-based scholarships are awarded based on auditions, and students will be placed in appropriate level courses and lessons based on their auditions.
No appointment is necessary to attend the auditions on February 17th, but students should complete and submit the audition application at least a week prior to the audition and already be admitted to Brenau University.
All students must perform two pieces from memory – specific requirements listed below – and will be tested in music theory, ear training, and sight reading skills.
Collaborative Pianists
– Perform two pieces from memory, one of which must be a fast tempo
Vocalists
– Perform two standard English, Italian, French, or German art songs from memory.
Instrumentalists
– Perform two piece of contrasting moods from the standard repertoire of the instrument from memory
