Karen Downey Lightfoot, MBA, CPA is the Undergraduate Chair and an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Brenau University. She is a licensed CPA from North Carolina and a member of the AICPA, IMA, Georgia Society of CPAs and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She earned her MBA at the International University of Monaco (IUM) and her BBA in Accounting and Finance from James Madison University. Prior to coming to Brenau, she was the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs and a professor of accounting at IUM. Her passion for travel and education are reflected in her research interest for engaging the Millenials coming into the Accounting profession worldwide. Her professional work experience includes 20 years in the real estate and portfolio management industry, public accounting, and small business consulting in Washington, DC, Raleigh, NC, and Cairns, Australia.
