History of the Women's Center Library

| Since its inauguration in
September 2002, The Women's Center has become a very active part of both
academic and student life at Brenau. The Women's Center houses two unique
spaces for students and faculty, the reading room and our library/resource
room. The reading room had become a favorite among many students who use its
seclusion for quiet study. We have purchased a new VCR and TV/VCR cart and
will purchase additional bookcases to house our growing library.
The library, which has thus far relied entirely on contributions from
faculty, staff, and students, now contains over 400 volumes. Areas of
concentration include religion and spirituality, literature, history and
politics, feminist thought, and psychology and popular culture. The most
recent addition (approximately 75 titles) was a donation from the former
Gainesville chapter of the National Organization for Women. In addition to
books, the library contains a number of journals, magazines, and pamphlets.
Furthermore, students have access to our computer, which has a listing or
numerous websites relating to a variety of women's concerns and activities. |
