FACILITIES  top

Archives Room- Locked except during special displays or for research, this room contains displays and files pertaining to the history of Brenau University. Contact Melissa Gardner for reservations at (770) 534-6164.

Break Room- Food and drink are permitted in the break room. Vending machines are available here.

Computer Lab- Located in the Redwine Center, the lab is available during library hours for individual use by patrons. Lab assistants are available at the Help Desk. The lab closes fifteen minutes prior to the library.

Individual Rooms- Study rooms, located to the right of the building, are available for private and small group study. Some are equipped for viewing videocassettes or listening to sound recordings.

Rare book gallery- Located next to the special collections room, this gallery contains first edition works. Patrons must schedule an appointment to use material in this gallery for it remains locked except for special displays or research.

Special Collections Room- Located near the rear of the building on the left, this room may be used to research purposes only. All special collections material must remain in this room. Patrons must schedule an appointment.

Thurmond-McRae Lecture Hall and Redwine Center- Located adjacent to the library, these facilities are equipped with a state of the art multi-media presentation system, a seminar room, and instructional and walk-in computer labs.  For reservations, contact Cody Benson with AICS at

DIRECTIONS  top

The library is located at 625 Academy Street, Gainesville, GA.

From Atlanta:
Take I-85 north to I-985 north. Take exit 22 off I-985 and turn left onto Hwy. 129. Go through eight traffic lights. Turn right on Academy Street, which will take you into the library parking lot. The library is located on the left.

From Chattanooga:
Take I-75 south to exit 125, which is marked hwy. 20, in Cartersville, Ga. Follow hwy. 20 east through Canton and toward Cumming. Before you reach Cumming, turn left onto hwy. 369. Stay on hwy. 369 for about 40 minutes, it will take you into Gainesville. In Gainesville, turn left onto E.E. Butler Road, and then right onto Academy Street, which will take you into the library parking lot. The library is located on the left.

From Dahlonega and Ga. 400
Follow Ga. route 60 to Gainesville. When the street forks, go left (E.E. Butler Drive). Shortly after the fork, turn left onto Brenau Avenue. Follow Brenau Avenue to Boulevard. Make a left onto Boulevard and the next right onto Academy Street. Academy Street will take you into the library parking lot. The library is located on the left.

From Greenville, S.C.:
Take I-85 south to Georgia (you will stay on I-85 for about an hour). Take the Jefferson, Ga., Hwy. 129 exit, and head west on Hwy. 129, which will take you into downtown Gainesville. In Gainesville, turn right onto Academy Street, which will take you into the library parking lot. The library is located on the left.

From North Carolina (US 74), Blairsville, Cleveland:
Take US 129 south. In North Carolina, follow the turn from US 74 to US 129 toward Atlanta. Head south through Blairsville and Cleveland all the way into Gainesville. At the traffic light where the street forks, go left onto E.E.Butler Drive. Shortly after the fork, turn left onto Brenau Avenue. Follow Brenau Avenue to Boulevard. Make a left onto Boulevard and the next right onto Academy Street. Academy Street will take you into the library parking lot. The library is located on the left.
