Belgium International Exchange

Brenau University – Georgia and Lessius University Antwerp, Belgium International Exchange

Basic Steps to be taken by a Brenau student. Brenau University selects and proposes a student to participate in the Brenau – Lessius exchange; she will be accepted and receive a letter of invitation from Lessius University, and will register for classes after arrival in Antwerp. Students must have their advisor’s approval for courses they plan to take at LU.

Accommodations will be free (included in the exchange formula): The rooms are comfortable student housing near the university in the beautiful, historic district of Antwerp. Generally, a Brenau student will have a private room and shared common areas such as kitchens and lounges. Public transportation is convenient and reasonable.

Daily Living Cost estimate: Approximately 300€ a month for food and personal expenses. Expenses will vary with individual tastes and choices.

Academic Programs: Lessius University has 3 programs that are exclusively in English during the fall semester:

1. European Business Studies: You will find a fairly extensive description here:http://www.lessius.eu/programmagids/OverzichtOpleidingsOnderdelen.aspx?ProgrammaTrajectID=74 Most of these modules can be taken without a background in business studies

2. Postgraduate European Master in Specialized Translation. Website:http://www.lessius.eu/programmagids/OverzichtOpleidingsOnderdelen.aspx?ProgrammaTrajectID=131 I don’t know what kind of students I can expect of Brenau. But of course, you need a “language background” to tackle subjects as “Translation Technologies”

3. Department of Applied Psychology | International Program
http://www.lessius.eu/english/tp/tp_intprogrammes.aspx I can’t get in touch right now with my colleagues from the Psychology Department. If I recall correctly, you only need a basic knowledge of psychology to be able to take these courses

Students may also study foreign languages:

Several foreign languages from beginning to advanced levels

Interested students should contact their faculty advisor and department chair, or the office of Global Studies in the Owens Building. Also, see the Brenau University Global Studies website and the Lessius University website at http://www.lessius.eu/english/ .
