Eclectic 89.1 WBCX has a mission to
serve Brenau University, Gainesville, NE Atlanta, and North Georgia.
We provide a truly unique alternative to commercial radio; supplying
our listeners with the widest mix of excellent music and diverse
programming in the greater North Georgia area! We currently reach
over a million listeners ranging from downtown
Atlanta, throughout the Northern perimeter -- all the way up into
areas of North and South Carolina.
A couple of years ago we started
asking our students and listeners to tell us what they really wanted
to hear, and have made several changes as a result. The result has
been overwhelming! We have gone from virtually no listener
response, to several hundred positive calls and e-mails per month.
We may not be able to please all the
people all the time -- but we're certain that we can please
everyone, whatever their musical tastes, for at least two hours a
week with one or more of our eclectic programs. We currently offer
some of the most diverse programming found on any radio station in
America today. Our DJ's play the music they are
passionate about rather than following the dictates of record
labels, charts, or popular culture & tasteless trends.

You, as an audience member, always
have the power to make or break a show simply by sending an e-mail or
making a phone call. If any show ever receives more negative
feedback than positive -- which could be only one negative call in the
absence of any positive calls -- then that show will be cancelled
immediately. So. . .take back the media by letting us know what
you think! Each comment you make could effect our overall
programming!

Our shows and formats are in a process
of continual change as we add more student and community DJ's to our
live and local, eclectic line-up! We are also in the process of
providing more of our own programming.....more student involvement,
more community interaction, and more diverse musical selections.
To reflect the 'new' WBCX, we have
changed our name to "Eclectic 89.1"; reflecting our new diversity of
multi-cultural programming -- maintaining a commitment to excellence
and raising the bar for musical quality. We are committed to
providing innovative, entertaining and educational programs which
will enrich the lives of our students, educate our listeners in
classic, new or diverse musical styles and genres, and unify the
surrounding communities.
We currently have 10 different
formats, and have premiered 45 local shows to the public over the
course of the past two years. 20 shows have already come and gone
due to the decision or action of the individual DJ's. . .or due to
audience response.
