Are snacks and lunches included in my tuition?
Yes. They receive a morning snack (served at 9:00 a.m.), lunch (served at 12:00), and an afternoon snack (served at 2:30 p.m.)

Is there a discount if I have multiple children in the center?
No

What are the hours of Operation?
The center opens at 7:30 a.m and closes at 6:00 p.m

What ages do you care for?
6 weeks to 5 years
We also take school age children for afterschool up to the age of 8
During the summer we have a summer camp program for children age 5-8

Is there a high turnover rate?
No. On average, a teacher stays with us for about 4 years. Teachers usually don’t leave until it is time for them to do their student teaching.

Is there a certain time that I need to have my child to school?
While there is not a specific time that you are required to bring your child to school, we do prefer that you have them here by 9:00 a.m. This allows us to provide a snack for them and helps them settle in before circle time. Circle time is one of the most important times of the day as this is when a good bit of the instruction is given.

What forms of discipline do you use?
Redirection is the biggest form of discipline that we use. We also rely on positive reinforcement to help aid in behavior issues. There are times, however, when a firmer type of discipline is needed. During such times, we rely on time out. This time is used to think about what has happened and how the situation could have been handled better. Time out is one minute per the child’s age. Once time out is complete, teacher and child discuss what happened and we allow the child to use their words to help further their understanding of the situation.

What listing do you follow for inclement weather?
We follow Gainesville City School System. If they are closed for inclement weather reasons (only), then we are closed as well. We provide a list of pre-planned closings at the beginning of each school year as well as in the tuition packet.

What do I need to bring to school?
Complete change of clothes (including socks and underwear) to keep at the Center in the event of an accident.
If you child is in the infant room you will need to bring diapers, wipers, clothing, formula, and any special food or comfort items your child may need. All items need to have your child’s full name on them.
If your child is not in the infant room and is not potty trained, you will need to provide diapers with your child’s full name on them.
Your child may bring only one soft cuddle toy and a thin receiving blanket for naptime. These items stay in the cubby during the day and are used only at nap time.

Are there any items that are not allowed at school?
Any toys other than naptime items (listed above.) These items cause a considerable amount of trouble between the children and they get very upset when they get lost or broken or cannot be shared.
Any outside food. We have several children that have severe allergies and so ask that outside food is not brought in.

If my child is on medication, can a Center staff give it to them?
No, we are not able to provide any mediation to your child. A parent is more than welcome to give the medication if they so choose.

What type of curriculum is used?
We use creative curriculum. This is a child centered curriculum that allows the teachers to create lesson plans based on the interests of the children while creating a meaningful learning experience that is developmentally appropriate.

Do you provide opportunities for extracurricular activities?
Yes. Children 3 and up participate in a weekly music lesson from Funderful World of Music. This is included in the weekly tuition. We also provide activities such as PlayBall and Gainesville Ballet lessons. These are provided for an additional cost. We do special seasonal activities that bring our families together as well. For example, we have a fall festival, trick-or-treating around campus, a winter play performance and an Easter egg hunt.
