Course Catalog
Prerequisites
The combined Bachelor of Science and Master of
Science in OT (BS/MS) is designed for entering freshman and transfer students.
Upon completion, students have both a bachelor's and a master's degree and the
credentials to enter the profession.
-
First year students
who begin as freshmen typically complete the program in five years. The first
two years focus on liberal arts and program prerequisites, and the final three
years on occupational therapy coursework.
-
Transfer students
must have completed comparable coursework, which is evaluated upon admission.
-
Applicants are
expected to have observation or volunteer experiences with occupational
therapists in at least two different types of settings.
The combined BS/MS program
course stream takes three years to complete and includes professional
preparation coursework, graduate coursework, and a thesis. Graduates from this
accredited program will have completed six months of fulltime fieldwork, which
is required to sit for the national certification examination.
First,
apply to
Brenau University Women's College. Transfer
students with 30 hours or more of coursework must also complete a
Supplemental Occupational Therapy Application. You are also encouraged to submit
applications for financial aid as soon as you are admitted to Brenau.
Second,
wait for a letter that notifies you of your acceptance to
Brenau University.
Third,
contact your advisor and work out your timeline for beginning
the program. As students can only start one time per year, the application
process and advisement concerning prerequisites should take place at least two semesters
prior to starting the program. Call 770-534-6139 or 800-252-5119 ext. 6139 to
make an appointment.
Admission decisions are made several times a year. Those admitted
are required to make a deposit to confirm attendance.
