Undergraduate

The early childhood education program at Brenau University offers teacher preparation for those wishing to teach in preschool settings or in elementary schools, kindergarten through the fifth grade.

	Emphasis is on the mastery of instructional strategies that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
	Since the typical early childhood professional teaches all areas of the curriculum, the program builds pedagogical theory and practice on a broad general education background.
	Field experiences in preschool as well as elementary school settings provide an opportunity for students to observe and to apply the skills gained in the academic classroom.
	Student teaching, where the student assumes increasing responsibility for working with a whole class while under the supervision of an experienced teacher, completes the early childhood program of study.
