GoldCat is the Internet-based catalog of materials owned by Brenau University's Trustee Library.

Keyword Search

  1. Access the Internet
  2. Go to the Brenau Trustee Library Web page, http://www.brenau.edu/library.
  3. Scroll down the menu on the left side of the page and select the link, GoldCat Catalog.
  4. On the GoldCat Web page, click on the button, Local Catalog.
  5. At the next screen, perform a simple search using the keywords "Short Stories" in the box beneath Find This. (Note that the ruler at the top of this page provides links to Help and other options.) From the menu beneath Find Results In, select Keyword Relevance Search. Click on the Search button.
  6. The computer screen will display a list of underlined titles related to your search. To find out more about a title, click on that title. Use the Next and Previous arrows to scroll through the Results List. To begin a new search, select Search from the ruler at the top of the screen.
  7. Perform an author search using keywords "Dr. Seuss".
  8. Perform a builder search using keywords "I am not going to get up today" as a title and "Dr. Seuss" as an author.
  9. If you would like to obtain instructions on how to print or email records, perform other types of searches, or receive assistance, you may click on the Help link which appears at the top of every screen or ask a librarian. Off-campus library patrons may dial 770-534-6113 to reach a librarian.

Subject Search

  1. Follow steps 1-4 as listed above.
  2. Enter a subject keyword or keywords in the box beneath Find This. From the menu beneath Find Results In, arrow down and select Subject Browse. Click on the Search button.
  3. From the Headings page, click on the number in the left hand column to view a list of titles related to the subject area that interests you. Use the Previous and Next arrows to view other titles on the list. Use the Back arrow on the main toolbar to return to the Headings page.
  4. Select any see also or note button in the # column on the Headings page for hints to improve your search strategy.
