Eclectic 89.1 FM WBCX is a radio station operated by Brenau University students and community volunteers.
Eclectic 89.1 features programming catering to people of all ages, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. We also strive to "raise the bar" for musical quality while attempting to break down the generational, racial, cultural, economic and educational barriers that exist between these disparate groups when it comes to radio, music and media.
We have a different format each day, to allow us to focus on all styles of music that have evolved within the Classical & Jazz Continuum.
Each of our student and volunteer DJs engage in producing a creative soundscape of quality music, features, and entertainment which create a specific mood within a larger format. The music may be diverse, but the mood is always consistent, and the standards of quality are firmly rooted in the classical and jazz continuum!
Each daily format is split into four blocks of programming – with each program lasting from 1 to 4 hours.
MORNING MOODS: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM
DAYTIME DIVERSIONS: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
ECLECTIC EVENINGS: 6:00 PM – MIDNIGHT
LATE NIGHT LOUNGE: MIDNIGHT - 5:00 AM

| MELODIC MONDAYS |
Mondays: Starting at midnight and running for 24 hours |
Providing a melodic environment to reflect, relax, & renew. Featuring instrumental melodic moods -- acoustic, ambient, and electronic instrumentals, new age, downtempo, lounge, chill, etc -- as well as music from ALL genres featuring melodic vocals and uplifting lyrics from the realms of jazz, soul, melodic rock & pop, blues, R & B, bluegrass, folk, etc.

Providing a nostalgic blend of traditional American music from the first half of the 20th century. Programming designed to bring back pleasant memories, educate, and allow reflection on the music that arose from the multi-cultural melting pot which defines America today, and has influenced most styles music around the world. Including ragtime, blues, gospel, Dixieland, Traditional jazz, hot jazz, big band, crooners, swing, original R & B and pre-"British invasion" rock & roll. |

Providing an opportunity to travel to exotic locations, learn about exciting cultures, places, people and languages. Programming to enrich your multi-cultural literacy without leaving the comfort of your own radio. Focusing on all genres of music from around the world. Including folk music from various countries, world beats, jazz influenced grooves, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Bossa Nova, Caribbean, Reggae, African, Afro-beat, Native American, Aboriginal, UK Soul, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Scandinavian, Russian, Middle Eastern, Indian, Far Eastern, Japanese, etc., etc. |

Providing timeless music that has staying power beyond cultural fads, corporate trends, subcultures or dance crazes. Programming to increase musical literacy and appreciation, and provide something beyond the beat or lyric – focusing on classics and standards from an American perspective (straight ahead, classic, mainstream jazz) by day. . .and a European perspective ("Classical" - i.e. Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern, and Impressionistic) by night.

Providing an upbeat soundtrack to move your feet, stimulate your energy, get you in a groove, and start your weekend off right – focusing on rhythms and grooves from the realms of contemporary, modern and urban jazz, funk, fusion, R & B, acid jazz, world grooves, neo-soul, etc. Music that will make you want to move, groove or just chill.
